الحرب في لبنان لم تنته بعد، وما من أحد يستطيع أن يعرف بالتأكيد متى وكيف ستنتهي هذه الحرب التي بدأت كحرب سلامة الجليل وتقرر أن تنتهي خلال يومين أو ثلاثة أيام فقط!
هذا ليس تلخيصاً للحرب وإنما الثمرة لمحاولة التشييد من جديد من خلال الحرب لبدايتها وتطورها حتى الانسحاب الأول.
للأسف لم يحو الكتاب (لأسباب الرقابة) جميع التفاصيل التي جمعت قبل الحرب وبعدها بسنة وما من شك بأن ما أزيل من الكتاب لم يؤثر على صيغته النهائية ولا على مضمونه. ومع ذلك سيتضح للقارئ بأن الأسماء التي وردت في الكتاب وكان لها الدور الكبير في الأحداث خلال الحرب لم تذكر بأسمائها الحقيقية... ولربما يأت يوم نستطيع كشف النقاب عنها.
حظينا بمساعدة تامة من قبل جيش الدفاع الإسرائيلي وجهاز الأمن ولولا هذه المساعدة لما توسع هذا الكتاب إلى هذا الحد.
وكذلك لا بد من ذكر عشرات الضباط والصحافيين الذين أبدوا استعداداً لمساعدتنا وإمدادنا بالمعلومات التي كانت تنقصنا حتى يكون بمقدورنا حل هذا اللغز الذي يدعى "حرب سلامة الجليل".
كما وحظينا بالمساعدة من قبل رجال الحكم الأميركي وضباط من الكتائب وفوجئنا بإبداء استعداد زعماء لبنانيين آخرين برغبتهم في مساعدتنا على جمع المواد حول هذه الحرب.
وقد ضمن الكتاب الكثير من الوثائق والحقائق، ومنها وثائق سرية من داخل المنظمة الفلسطينية.
