يلخَص المفكَر والمجدّد السودانيّ النيل عبد القادر أبو قرون، في كتابه "جوهر الحياة"، المشروع المتواصل الذي ابتدأه في كتبه السابقة لمراجعة الفكر الإسلامي، عبر قراءةٍ جريئةٍ وجديدة تحاول تصحيح ما وصل من اخطاء بحقَ النبيّ الكريم ورسالته؛ وهو يوسّع الأمر هنا لتصل روح هذه الرسالة إلى العالم كلّه عبر مناقشة موضوعاتٍ إنسانيّةٍ كبرى مثل: الحبّ مكمن للسعادة؛ وهل الموت نهايةٌ للحياة أم بدايةٌ لحياةٍ خالدةٍ وأفضل؟ والقضاء المطلق للإنسان والمقيّد، والفرق بين الخوف والحزن، وأن الدعوة كانت بالأخلاق لا بالمعجزات، وهل يوجد تصادم بين الإكتشافات العلميّة والثوابت الإيمانيّة؟ والمفهوم الواسع للوطن، إضافةً إلى مسائل أخرى عديدة.
هذا الكتاب دعوةٌ لإكتشاف القيم الكونيّة الخالدة للحبّ والإنسانيّة، وللأخلاق العليا الّتي تتميّز بها الرسالة المحمّديّة الخاتمة.
أصدر المفكر النيل أبو قرون، من قبل، عدداً من الكتب من بينها: مراجعات في الفكر الإسلامي "جزءان"، "الإسلام والدولة: شفاء الذمم من إتهامات المفسرين لأفضل المرسلين؛ بوارق الحبّ "ديوان شعر" وغيرها.
كما ترجم العديد من كتبه إلى اللغة الإنجليزية.
