يتألف الكتاب من عشر دراسات تتناول مسيرة سليمان العيسى الطويلة مع الشعر, وكتابته للأطفال شعراً ونثراً وتعريفاً بالأعلام الكبار في شعرنا العربي, وكتاباته عن فلسطين والمرأة, وفن الإضحاك لديه. هذه الدراسات جميعاً, تتميز بالاطلاع الواسع والتحليل الدقيق. إلا أن فاتحة هذه الدراسات وهي (سليمان العيسى ورحلة الشعر الطويلة) تضيف إلى ذلك محاولة جديدة في بابها, لتكوين رؤية شاملة عن طريق المتابعة الزمنية لنتاج الشاعر, وتوزيعه على مراحل مع بيان السمات التي تتصف بها كل مرحلة, وإيراد الشواهد الشعرية التي تمثلها, منتقلاً بذلك من التحليل إلى النقد والتقويم. كما تميز شعر سليمان العيسى بأنه أدى دوراً كبيراً في نشر الاتجاه القومي والوعي القومي في أرجاء الوطن العربي, بل وربما كان انغماس الشاعر في خضم الأحداث الوطنية والقومية قد ألقى ظلالاً على الجوانب الفنية في شعره. وكان من أهم ما تناوله الكتاب: سليمان العيسى ورحلة الشعر الطويل, الشاعر سليمان العيسى ثمانون عاماً من الحلم والأمل, سليمان العيسى والكتابة للأطفال, المسرح الشعري عند سليمان العيسى, فلسطين في شعر سليمان العيسى, فن الإضحاك عند سليمان العيسى, المرأة في شعر سليمان العيسى, الشاعر سليمان العيسى وقفات متأنية مع الحياة.
