وتعتمد هذه الدراسة على إجراء بحث حقلي ميداني تناول مجاميع من الشباب العربي من مختلف المستويات التعليمية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية وإلى جانب هذه الدراسة الحقلية يتناول الكتاب في قسمه النظري بالعرض والتحليل نتائج أهم البحوث العلمية التي أجريت على التليفزيون وآثاره في المجتمع الأوروبي والأمريكي، وتتضمن هذه الدراسات كثيراً من الوصايا التي يفيد منها واضعو البرامج في التليفزيون العربي. وللدراسة الحالية كثير من التطبيقات التربوية والنفسية والإعلامية والسياسية، فيفيد منها الآباء والأمهات والمعلمون والمعلمات والأخصائيون الاجتماعيون ورجال الإعلام والمسؤولون عن الأحداث الجناح وعن الإصلاح الاجتماعي، ويستفيد منها الشباب أنفسهم. وفي الدراسة رد على كثير من الانتقادات التي توجه إلى التليفزيون من أنه يشجع على العنف والجريمة وانتشار الجنس والرذيلة وينمي السلبية وضعف الإبصار...
