ولعل ما يلفت النظر في الأنموذج الياباني أنه استطاع أن يحقق عملية التحديث هذه دون أن يفرط كثيراً بالقيم والمعايير والإتجاهات الأساسية المكونة للثقافة اليابانية، بل بالعكس، استخدم هذه القيم والمعايير كأساس لتطويع العناصر الوافدة بما يتلاءم مع واقع المجتمع، الأمر الذي وفر الوقاية لهذا الأنموذج وكفل له النجاح دون غيره من النماذج.
وقد صاحب عملية التحديث هذه حدوث تغيرات كبيرة في سلوك وتفكير الأفراد إتجاه السلطة، والحكومة، والسياسة، وطبيعية المجتمع الصالح، فعلى أثر إنتشار المبادئ الديمقراطية في المجتمع الياباني بظهور الاحزاب السياسية، وجماعات الضغط والمصلحة، وحرية الإنتخابات... إلخ، وخاصة في الفترة التي أعقبت الحرب العالمية الثانية، ظهرت هناك معتقدات وأفكار وإتجاهات جديدة.
وهذه المعتقدات والإتجاهات سواء أكانت صريحة سافرة، أم ضمنية مستترة، شكلت الأسس والدعائم الثقافية والسيكولوجية للجماعات اليابانية في حركتها الدائبة بإتجاه التحديث والتغيير السياسي.
