عن أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "إذا أصبح ابن آدم فإن الأعضاء كلها تكفر اللسان فتقول: اتق الله فينا فإنما نحن بك فإن استقمت استقمنا وإن اعوججت اعوججنا" درب عمل أوبق صاحبه والعياذ بالله، ولما كان رب العزة وخالق البشرية حكيماً وبديعاً في صنعه، اقتضت رحمته أن يجعل للناس ما يردع نفوسهم ويوقف نزواتهم عن التدني إلى مدارك البهيمية، والنزول إلى الحضيض، فجاءت الآيات، والأحاديث ترهب وتحذر وتنذر من الوقوع في مثل هذه الدركات. "فإن التوبة من المعاصي والذنوب والرجوع إلى الله تهدم الخطيئات وتنزل الرحمات والمكرمات.. وبعكس أمورها يحصل خرابها وذهابها."
وفي هذا الكتاب تم اختيار ما جاء من آيات قرآنية وأحاديث نبوية من موضوع الذهب والتحذير من الوقوع في خطايا الأقوال والأفعال، وتم ترتيبها على نهج المحدثين على الأبواب الفقهية، كما وتم شرح ما فيها من غريب، اللفظ وذلك ليكون القارئ على بينة لمعناها ومعزاها.
