لقيت الأمة الإسلامية في حفظ السنة الكثير من المشقة والعنت، إذ عرضت له عوارض السوء إلى أن أذن الله سبحانه له أن يستقر على القواعد والأصول التي اصطلح عليها علماء الرواية والدراية، فكانت هي الحوافظ الأمنية، والعينات الواقية، للإخبارات، والكلمات النبوية، التي أنزلها الله سبحانه على نبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، وبقيت من بعد هي الرداء القائم من وراء ظهر القرآن، بحروفها ومعانيها، لا تتقدم عليه إلا تمهيداً بتأويل لآية أو بياناً لمشكلة في أخرى، أو تقييداً لمطلق في ثالثة "...أراد الله سبحانه وتعالى أن يتفضل به تكرمه لنبيه عليه الصلاة والسلام فيكون بيناً جلياً لقوله: ألا وإني أوتيت الكتاب ومثله معه فتكون السنة طائفة على الناس بنصوصها وكلماتها، في كل الإعصار والأمصار..."
وإذا كانت رسائل قد ألغت قديماً في الإبانة عن فضل الأعمال الصالحة بترك أو بفعل، مما أنعم الله على أمة الإسلام لتكون بها خير أمة أخرجت للناس، لا تخاف انتقاصاً في أجر بفعل قليل أو كثير، إلا بما يكون من غفلة عن الإخلاص فيه، أو مجانبة عن الصدق في أدانه والقيام بحقه، فكان لكل رسالة منها بسط في النصوص التي أوردها هذا المؤلف أو ذاك أو إخلال فيها باختيار الجوامع الواسعة منها.
فإن هذا الكتاب، الذي تخبر نصوصه، وجمعها، وألف بينها، حتى غدا على ما تضم به عيون القراء بظاهر ألفاظه ومبانيه، وبباطن فحواه ومعانيه، صورة علمية كاملة كاشفة المرادات التي جاءت إليها هذه النصوص، أو جئ بها هي إلى النصوص على نحو لم يسبق إليه مؤلفه أو أنس البنكاني.
وبالعودة لمضمون هذا الكتاب نجد أن يحتوي كما قلنا على أحاديث زاكيات طاهرات في فضائل الأقوال والأفعال خرجت من مشكاة النبوة ومنبع الأصالة في فهم المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم، وتتميز هذه الأحاديث بأنها مما صح من الأحاديث على أصول علماء الحديث والجرح والتعديل، وبأنها غطت كافة أبواب الفقه والعقيدة لا فرق بين أن يكون الحديث في باب العقائد أو في فضائل الأعمال... أما ترتيبها فجاء بأسلوب متميز، وبإخراج أنيق وشرح واف لمضمون ما غمض من الأحاديث النبوية وذلك بإتباع الطرائق المعهودة عند الأولين السابقين من العلماء في ذلك.
