روي عن الحسين بن علي بن محمد القمي المعروف بأبي علي البغدادي أنه قال: كنت ببخارى، فدفع إلي المعروف بابن جاوشير عشر سبائك ذهباً وأمرني أن أسلمها بمدينة السلام إلى الشيخ أبي القاسم الحسين بن روح قدس الله روحه، فحلمتها معي. فلما بلغت "آمويه" ضاعت مني سبيكة من تلك السبائك، ولم أعلم بذلك حتى دخلت مدينة السلام، فأخرجت السبائك لأسلمها فوجدتها ناقصة واحدة، فاشتريت سبيكة بوزنها وأضفتها إلى التسع، ثم دخلت على الشيخ القاسم ووضعت السبائك بين يديه، فقال لي خذ تلك السبيكة التي اشتريتها، وأشار إليها بيده، فإن السبيكة التي ضيعتها قد وصلت إلينا، وها هي ذي، ثم أخرج إلي تلك السبيكة التي كانت ضاعت مني بآمويه، فنظرت إليها وعرفتها.
هذه قصة عن معجزة من المعجزات الكثيرة التي يذكرها الشيخ "ماجد الزبيدي" في كتابه هذا والذي خصه بالإمام المهدي ذاكراً فيه بعض القصص عن الإمام من ولادته وحياته مع أبيه كما ويذكر قصص أخرى طالت معجزاته عليه السلام سواء الصغرى أو الكبرى.
