لا يزال الإهتمام بالمساءلة التربوية متزايداً من قبل العديد من الباحثين والممارسين للعملية التربوية، حيث نشرت الكثير من الأبحاث في الميدان التربوي وخصوصاً في الدول المتقدمة، إلا أن المكتبات العربية تكاد تخلو من مؤلفات عربية تتناول المساءلة التربوية.
فالمتتبع للمساءلة التربوية يجدها ترتبط بمفاهيم أخرى مثل الرقابة والمحاسبة والمتابعة والتقويم في النظام التربوي.
لذلك أردت في هذا الكتاب الخروج من المفهوم السائد عند الكثير والذي يدور حول محاسبة المقصرين وتسويغ ذلك القصور من أجل إصدار العقوبة إلى مفهومها السامي والذي يعني متابعة الأداء من أجل تحسين العمل وتطويره وتلمس مواطن القوة لتعزيزها ومواطن الضعف لمعالجتها، وذلك وفق معايير محددة.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب في محاولة متواضعة لكي يسهَل على القارئ والعاملين في الميدان التربوي الوصول إلى مساءلة عادلة تعمل على متابعة النظام التربوي والمتمثلة في مدخلاته وعملياته ومخرجاته.
أسأل الله أن يكون هذا العمل لبنة من لبنات الإرتقاء بالمساءلة التربوية العربية العلمية وأن يجد الباحث في هذا المجال الفائدة.
وأملأ أن أكون قد وفقت في الوصول إلى الهدف المنشود وإن كان هناك شيء من القصور فقدرنا أننا بشر وما الكمال إلا لله.
