"نظرت إليه صامتاً ولم أكترث بما قال.. ثم عدت للخروج من غرفته، وما إن سرت قليلاً حتى صاح بي مجدداً: إلى أين أنت ذاهب؟ أجبته: سأذهب إلى المكان الذي عرفت فيه ديالا، وسأبني هناك كوخاً وأعيش فيه على ذكراها".
رواية تحكي قصة علاقة عاطفية حكم عليها بالفشل وذلك لأنها جمعت بين مسلم ومسيحية. ينسج الروائي حكايته ضمن هذا الإطار الرومانسي ضمن سرديات مفعمة بالأحداث التي هي على مستوى كبير من الأهمية، من مثل وقائع من سيرة نكبة 1948 والتي شملت تفاصيل سقوط الكابري وترشيحا، كما أن الروائي غاص في عمق المأساة الفلسطينية مورداً في ثنايا روايته معاناة المخيم الفلسطيني وبؤس واقعه وفصول الحرب التي شنت عليه والدمار الذي لحق به. رواية في أحداثها يلتقي العام والخاص على صعيد واحد، وعند نقطة المأساة.
