هذا الكتابُ الذي أقدّمه اليومَ للقارئ العربيّ، يُعالج ظاهرةً ترتبط باللغة العربية حياةً وتطوراً، ألا وهي "الرُّكام اللغويّ"، حيث رجعتُ النظر في مقولات اللغويين العرب القدامى الذين وسموا ما خالف قواعدهم واقيستهم بأنه "شاذ" أو "نادر"، أو أنّه خروج عن الأصل، أو جاء على الأصل، منطلقين من فهم قارّ في أنفسهم: أن اللغة وُجدت كاملة ناضجةُ، وأنّ أيّ مظهر مُخالف لما أطُرد من القواعد هو من قبيل الشاذ أو النادر.
انطلقت هذه الدراسة من فهم مخالف لما استقر عند القُدامى، وهذا الفهم نابع من طبيعة اللغة التي يُسبّهها المُحدثون بالكائن الحيّ، تتعرّض لما يتعرض له الكائن الحيّ من مراحل في حياته منذ الطفولة وحتى الممات.
تؤمن هذه الدراسة، خلافاً للقدامى - بأن اللّغة تتطور، وأنّها مرّت في تطورها بحلقات، وبعض هذه الحلقات مفقود، وربمّا يمثل هذا الشاذ - كما وسمه القُدامى هو في نظر المؤلف هو من قبيل الركام اللّغوي أو البقايا اللغوية، تُمثل مرحلةُ من مراحل تطوّر اللغة العربية.
