والمؤلف في هذا الكتاب يرصد هذه الظاهرة من خلال فصول بحثت هذا الموت الاختياري في شتى صوره وأشكاله والأسباب الكامنة وراءه والتي تجلت في المعتقدات والإبداع والمتعة وعقدة الذنب ليقدم بعد ذلك نماذج انتحارية مرت عبر التاريخ.
