هذا هو الجزء الثالث من مختارات تراث السلف, جمع فيه المؤلف بعض ما سطرته أنامل العلامة المفسر الفقيه الأصولي الشيخ الشوكاني, حيث قدم هذا العالم ثروة علمية نفيسة لهذه الأمة, وقد كان سبب هذا النبوغ والتميز للشوكاني-نشأته في بيت علم ودين, ثم ذكاؤه المفرط وحافظته الخارقة وأفقه الواسع ودأبه على القراءة والإطلاع والتدريس باجتهاد منقطع النظير, وما كانت بيئته فيه من التأخر العلمي وقلة أو ضعف العلماء الربانيين وانتشار البدع والأوابد, فانبرى إلى الدعوة إلى العقيدة السلفية , فلاقى بسبب ذلك من البلاء والمحن ما هو من لوازم الإيمان بالله تعالى والصدع بكلمة الحق ومقارعة المبطلين, وقد تناول العديد من المواضيع الهامة في هذا الكتاب من أهمها: العقيدة والتوحيد, القرآن والتفسير, البدع والمبتدعة, القلوب وأعمالها, وجوب طاعة السلاطين, محبة الحياة, الجرح والتعديل, وغيرها من المواضيع الهامة.
