الشوكاني، محمد بن علي (1173هـ ـ 1250هـ، 1759-1834م).
محمد بن علي بن محمد بن عبد الله الشوكاني اليمني. فقيه مجتهد من كبار علماء اليمن وصاحب كتاب نيل الأوطار، ولد ببلدة شوكان باليمن ونشأ في صنعاء، وتلقى العلم على شيوخها، وجد في طلبه فأكثر من المطالعة والحفظ والسماع، حتى صار عالمًا كبيرًا يشار إليه بالبنان، توافد عليه الطلاب من كل مكان. اشتغل بالقضاء والإفتاء وكان داعية إلى الإصلاح والتجديد، ترك التقليد وسلك طريق الاجتهاد بعد أن اجتمعت فيه شرائطه كاملة. ترك مؤلفات كثيرة تدل على سعة علمه وسلامة منهجه. كثر خصومه كما كثر المعجبون به بسبب دعوته إلى الاجتهاد والتجديد. توفي بصنعاء بعد عمر زاخر بالعطاء.
من مصنفاته: نيل الأوطار في الحديث؛ فتح القدير في التفسير، وهو متوسط الحجم محرر العبارة.

Book Description
إن أشرف العلوم على الإطلاق، وأولاها بالتفضيل، وأرفعها قدراً بالاتفاق هو: علم التفسير. هذا وإن غالب المفسرين تفرقوا فريقين، الفريق الأول اقتصروا في تفاسيرهم على مجرد الرواية، والفريق الآخر جرّدوا أنظارهم إلى ما تقتضيه اللغة العربية، وما تفيده العلوم الآلية، وكلا الفريقين أصاب.
فإن القرآن حمّال ذو وجوه، وأيضاً لا يتيسر في كل تركيب من التراكيب القرآنية تفسير ثابت عن السلف، بل قد يخلو عن ذلك كثير من القرآن. وبهذا كان لا بد من الجمع بين الأمرين، وعدم الاقتصار على مسلك أحد الفريقين، وهذا المقصد هو الذي دفع بالإمام الشوكاني لتأليف هذا المصنف الذي جاء ضمن خمسة أجزاء، حيث تعرض للترجيح بين التفاسير المتعارضة مهما أمكن، إذا ما اتضح له وجهه، وأخذ من بيان المعنى العربي، والإعرابي، والبياني بأوفر النصيب، وحرص على إيراد ما ثبت من التفسير عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، أو الصحابة، أو التابعين أو تابعيهم، أو الأئمة المعتبرين، وقد يذكر ما في إسناده ضعف، أما لكونه في المقام ما يقويه، أو لموافقته للمعنى العربي.
فهذا التفسير، وإن كبر حجمه، فقد كثر علمه، وتوفر من التحقيق قسمه، واشتمل على ما في كتب التفاسير من بدائع الفوائد، مع زوائد فوائد، وقواعد شوارد. فكان ذخيرة الطلاب، ونهاية مآرب الألباب.
ولما كان هذا الكتاب متداولاً مشهوراً بين طلبة العلم والعلماء وفيه من الأحاديث الشيء الكثير من الضعيف والمنكر والموضوع مع البيان أحياناً، ودون بيان في غالب الأحاديث رأى المحقق أن يقوم بهذا العمل وأن يعتني بتخريج الأحاديث الواردة فيه، ومع بيان حكم كل حديث.
