كان إهتمامي، أول الأمر، بدراسة علاقات الدول الكبرى بالأقطار العربية، بدءاً من وطني الأردن، ومخططات هذه الدول في الوطن العربي في القرنين التاسع عشر والعشرين، ولكني ما لبثت أن أدركت أهمية الفكر والتيارات الفكرية الحديثة في سير الأحداث وتطورها في بلادنا، فركزت على دراسة التيارات الفكرية المعاصرة في الوطن العربي والصراع الفكري الذي كانت له آثاره السلبية العميقة على وطننا. وقادتني رسالتي هذه إلى إدراك أهمية التضامن العربي والوحدة العربية في مصير العرب الراهن. وأقبلت على دراسة موقف الدول الكبرى منها، إضافة إلى مواقف القوى المحلية في كل قطر عربي من هذه الوحدة. لا ريب أن محبتي لمهنتي ولطلبتي ساهمت في تعلقي بالتدريس الجامعي وحفزتني للبحث العلمي المتواصل، وجعلت مسيرتي المهنية ممتعة للغاية
