لقد كتب الكثير عن السريان، وفضلهم على الحضارة العربية، لكنني أردت في هذا الكتاب أن أزيد وأكتب عن موضوع جديد، فكان دراسة الإسلام المبكر في التواريخ السريانية، وإجراء مقارنة بينها وبين التواريخ الإسلامية العربية، وتحديداً الموضوع التالي: "التأريخ الإسلاميّ دراسة مقارنة بين تاريخ ميخائيل الكبير وتاريخ الطبري حتى نهاية العصر الأموي".
وقد تطلب هذا الموضوع المزيد من الجهد، والعمل، والإطلاع الواسع، وذلك لإيماني بأهمية ما قدّمه السريان من فضل لا يمكننا إلا التطرق إليه والتذكير به دائماً.
