جيري روبين الذي يعتبر "داعية الثورة الأكبر" هو مؤسس حركة الييبيز (وهي غير الهيبيين) واحد زعماء الجيل الأميركي الثائر في السبعينات، وكان قد قطع عشرين ألف كيلو متر ليلتقي في كوبا بشيء غيفارا الذي غبطه على حظه بأن يعيش في قلب "ذلك الوحش": الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، وكتابه هذا "هيا إلى الثورة!" هو "بيان" هذا الجيل الذي يفسد على أميركا نومها وأحلامها...
وهو و"ثيقة" خطيرة على جميع الهموم التي تشغل الشبيبة الأميركية اليوم، إبتداء من مناهضة الحرب الفيتنامية حتى الدعوة إلى التحرير الجنسي وتعاطي المخدرات... "إن الثورة إنما تُصنع فيما هي تتحقق" و"يجب مقابلة العنف بالعنف": "حين اغتال سرحان سرحان روبرت كندي، فقد حطم أسطورة القوة الأميركية البيضاء... لأن تطرف السلطة الأميركية وسلطة آل كندي لا يترك للشعب إلا اللجوء إلى مثل هذا التطرف..." و"نحن بحاجة إلى حضارة يمارس فيها الناس بعض الأعمال الزراعية صباحاً، وبعض الموسيقى بعد الظهر، والحب في ما بقي من وقت...".
ومهما يكن في "نظريات الييبيز" من مغالاة تبلغ أحياناً حد الشطط والجنون، بالرغم من إلتزامها، فهي ذات دلالة كبيرة على روح الثورة التي يواجه بها الجيل الشاب المجتمع الأميركي الفاسد الذي لا بد من ثورة هائلة تعصف به، وهي، على ما يقول علماء الإجتماع، آتية في ركاب ذلك الجيل الذي يعيش على الرفض والتمرد، والذي يعبر جيري روبين في كتابه هذا عن مختلف نظرياته بأسلوب ساخر جذاب يشد القارئ إليه من الدفة إلى الدفة...
