في هذه القصائد التي أخذت شكل الحكايات، لم أكن أحتاج إلى التأمل أو الحلم، كنتُ أنظر إلى نفسي وأنا طفل، ثم أنقل ما جرى لي وبي ومعي؛ كانت أمي بطلة هذه القصائد وكان أبي حاضراً بقوة.
أما المخيم فهو الفضاء الذي كان يشكل ذلك العالم وعلى مبدأ الطفل الذي هو أبو الرجل، كان ذلك الطفل يعلمني ولكنني كنتُ أشفق عليه أحياناً، وأحسده أحياناً، فقد كان طفلاً بريئاً لا يعرف كيف يدير أموره، لكنه بقوة الحياة، بمعجزة الحياة الفلسطينية، عاش وشبْ وكبر حتى كتب هذه الأشياء.
نقرأ قصيدة بعنوان: "الحزينة"... "هل وراء الباب من أحدِ؟ لا جديدٌ... لم يمرَّ غدي... أمُسُها أين؟ وهل يومها... أنها تبكي إلى الأبد؟... مرَّ عُمْرانِ على عُمْرِها... وهي لم تنهضْ، ولم تقعدِ... في الغضون السودِ تحت الجفونِ، رمادٌ ذاب في الرمدِ... دائماً تُرمشُ، هل حاصرتْ... فكرةً لاحتْ، ولم تَرِد؟... وصفوها بالحزينة، ما حزنها؟... ما آخر الكمدِ؟...
