إن الهدف من هذه المحاولة هو التأريخ لظهور الحياة على الأرض وتطورها وذلك بعد التعرض بطريقة اختزالية للغاية لما قيل عن سياق النشأة الكونية وظهور المادة بالكون لأول مرة وتطورها وما انتهت إليه من عوالم ومجرات وشموس وكواكب دائمة التفاعل، لا تستقر على حال، وذلك من خلال منظار الأطروحات العلمية "المقبولة" أو الأكثر احتمالاً، كما جاءت هذه المحاولة لتسلط الأضواء على مجموعة مبادئ أساسية تميز الحياة وأولياتها، مع محاولة عدم التوغل في الحيثيات والفرعيات التي قد تصبح مملة مع مراعاة أسلوب التبسيط في ذلك قدر المستطاع.
هاجس آخر كان وراء الإتيان بهذه المحاولة المتواضعة وتعمد كتابتها باللغة العربية، وهو وضع النص العلمي المكتوب بالعربية في متناول القارئ المغربي، قصد تكسير ذاك الحاجز النفسي الذي كثيراً ما ينفره من التعامل مع هذا النوع من الكتابة والتأليف، خصوصاً بالنسبة لشريحة الأطر المكونة علمياً باللغات الأجنبية. وقد روعي من أجل مزيد من الفهم الإتيان –قدر المستطاع- بالمسطح العلمي الفرنسي بعد مرادفه العربي، مع تذييل الكتاب بقائمة لنفس المصطلحات باللغتين. وذلك حتى لا يمل القارئ من التردد بين الصفحات أو يضطر كل مرة للرجوع إلى القاموس. وقد وقع الاختيار على المصطلح الفرنسي كمرادف نظراً لطبيعة التكوين العلمي للقارئ المغربي بصفة عامة.
