يشكل هذا الكتاب قراءة مختصرة لمؤلفه "محمد المرهون" في علاج الأمراض وآداب المريض والعائد والطبيب بنظر الإسلام، حيث يضع بين يدي القارئ المسلم ما ورد في الأمراض وعلاجها في الإسلام، وقد اعتمد فيه كتاب الله (القرآن الكريم) وما روي عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأهل بيته عليهم السلام، ومنها أن "أهل البيت عليهم السلام أعلم الناس بالطب" وهنا يورد المؤلف تسع عشرة مسألة سأل عنها الصادق عليه السلام الطبيب الهندي في مجلس المنصور فلم يعلمها وأخبره الصادق بجوابها. قال عليه السلام: "أداوي الحار بالبارد، والبارد بالحار، والرطب باليابس، واليابس بالرطب، وأرد الأمر كله إلى الله عز وجل، وأستعمل ما قاله رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأعلم أن المعدة بيت الداء والحمية هي الدواء، وأعوّد البدن ما اعتاد".
وبالإستناد إلى ما تقدم يحتوي الكتاب على الكثير من الموضوعات والإرشادات حول آداب الصحة، وكيفية علاج الأمراض وما ينبغي في التداوي، لوجع الخاصرة، لوجع المعدة، لعلاج الصداع، علاج المغص، وضعف البصر ووجع العين، وعلاج السل، وعلاج السعال، وعلاج الجروح، ومن الإستحبابات التي يذكرها المؤلف أيضاً: أحاديث في آداب الحمل، وآداب المولود، وآداب العطاس، ومن التحذيرات: الإبتعاد عن شارب الخمر، التمرض من غير علة، والحمية من الأمراض وأنواعها وكيفية الوقاية منها (...) ومواضيع أخرى ذات صلة.
