"أبتسمتُ قليلاً في داخلي وأنا أتذكر حكاية السماح بخروجي بعد فترة إحتجازي وتسليمي لكفيل لي من أحد أقاربي الذي تعهد بالتوقيع على مجموعة خطابات بصم بها بقلمي بأنه سيقوم بإحضاري متى طلب مني ذلك، يا لحماقة لحظاتي!... وما أقساها عليّ!... حين أكون في وطني، وأنا بحاجة إلى من يكفلني، ويكون لي فيها متعهداً بإحضاري متى طلبت السلطات ذلك.
لم أعانِ مثل ما عانيت من هذا الموقف وأنا أشهد تسليم جسدي لكفيل لي؛ كنت فيها أشبه بطرد بريدي ضخم، قادماً من الخارج، يحتاج إلى توقيعات كثيرة على أوراق متعاقبة بعضها البعض لا لشيءٍ سوى أنني كنت أريد أن أكون إنساناً يفكر ويحلم؛ ليعيش بحرية وكرامة، تكفل له القوانين الحقوق والواجبات مواطنةً دائمةً ومستقرةً له ولأولاده من بعده".
