تتجلى عظمة الإنسان بإضافة معنى للحياة، وخيراً لمعاني وأسماها هو أقربها إلى واقع الناس وأحلامهم. في "ملح الأرض: المتمردة" يخط لنا "حبيب فارس" رواية نسيج خيوطها من واقع الحياة، تحكي تاريخ بلد ملبد بغيوم سوداء ذاكنة ينذر دوماً بعواصف تهب بين الحين والآخر وتخرف معها آمالاً وأحلاماً لشعب أبى أن يستسلم، يصور فيها الكاتب بصدق وموضوعية حياة مجتمعات صغيرة كانت تعاني من الجهل والفقر والحرمان، فتعكس بذلك صورة كل التجمعات الريفية آنذاك في لبنان وفي الأقطار العربية وفي أجزاء كثيرة من أطراف العالم، حيث ما يزال الناس راضين بما شاء لهم القدر.
تبدأ الرواية بشخصية ذلك الشاب الذي قرر قطع دراسته، ومساعدة العائلة، فمن خلال شخصية "وسيم يوسف الحموي" الذي يمكن أن نشاهد لها نموذجاً في كل يوم في مجتمعاتنا التي أثقل كاهلها عصر مكبث بالصراعات والحروب والفقر وانعدام الأمن، فبدأت تبحث عن التغيير "فهو بطبيعته لا يحب أن يشكو إلى الآخرين يحملهم همومه، كما أنه لا يحب أن يظهر ضعيفاً أمامهم، وهو "الملك" بنظرهم. أفلتت منه ضحكوة متهكمة إزاء هذه الفكرة: وأي ملك هذا دون سلطة وقوة ومال؟ ما هو إلا صعلوك! انقلبت لديه الأمور بالنسبة إلى الطبيعة، إذ كان يحس معها بالتحرر من كل القيود".
إن أجمل ما في هذه الرواية ما تحتويها من رمزيات وطقوس تدغدغ المشاعر والوجدان، في مفاصل كلماتها ذهنية بحث واختبارية-فيه وفاء للأحبة ودفء في التعاطي مع الحدث، وإرتقاء إلى نشوة جمالية التراث بعيداً عن التزلف والتكلف والصناعة التي غالباً ما تأتي من معين لا ينضب ولكنه لا يروي. لقد جمع فيها الروائي "الكل" الحب والوطن والثورة والتغيير والأمل والحنين والغضب والحسرة والمواجهة والتحدي، فخرجت بأبهى حلة وأصدق ما في النفس من تعبير.
