يلماز أوزتونا (بالتركية: Yılmaz Öztuna ) كاتب ومؤرخ وصحفي تركي، ولد في 20 سبتمبر 1930م في مدينة إسطنبول التركية، وتوفي في 9 فبراير 2012 في مدينة أنقرة. من أشهر مؤلفاته والتي تُرجمت إلى اللغة العربية كتاب "تاريخ الدولة العثمانية".

هذا الكتاب يضم الجزء الأول والثاني من كتاب –تاريخ تركيا- الذي ألفه المؤرخ البحاثة الشهير يلماز أوزطونا بدءاً من وجود الترك على وجه البسيطة وحتى العصر الحديث.
ويقتصر الجزء الأول في هذا الكتاب على نشأة الأتراك، ومناطقهم الجغرافية، والدول التركية الكبرى في الهند والصين وأقطار أخرى قبل الإسلام وبعده.
ويتابع المؤلف ليسلط الضوء على السلاجقة والغزنويين، كما يبحث في انفتاح الأتراك على القارة الأوروبية.
ويتطرق الكتاب في قسمه الثاني إلى الأناضول وتركيا، ويزود القارئ بأدق المعلومات عن الحروب الصليبية واشتراك الأتراك في ردّ تلك الحملات، كما يعطي القارئ معلومات واسعة ودقيقة عن إمارات الأناضول ودولها التركية.
والكتاب ملف وثائقي هام يكشف عن إسهام الأتراك في حضارة الشرق، كما يشكل مرجعاً لا غنى عنه في كل ما يتعلق بالأمة التركية قبل نشوء الإمبراطورية العثمانية وقد نقل هذين الجزئين إلى اللغة العربية الباحث المعروف أرشد الهرمزي.
وما من شك أن المترجم قد نجح في عمله نجاحاً كبيراً يعود إلى ثقافته التركية والعربية وإتقانه اللغتين، وتعمقه في تاريخ الترك ورجوعه إلى ما ألف في هذا المجال.
كل ذلك أضفى على هذه الترجمة سمة الدقة في المضمون، والروعة في جمالية الأسلوب، فالكتاب يعد ذخراً للمؤرخين والباحثين والقراء.
