ابن فضل الله العمري (700 - 749 هـ = 1301 - 1349 م)
أحمد بن يحيى بن فضل الله القرشي العدوي العمري، شهاب الدين: مؤرخ، حجة في معرفة الممالك والمسالك وخطوط الأقاليم والبلدان، إمام في الترسل والإنشاء، عارف بأخبار رجال عصره وتراجمهم، غزير المعرفة بالتاريخ ولا سيما تاريخ ملوك المغول من عهد جنكيزخان إلى عصره.
مولده ومنشأه ووفاته في دمشق.
أجل آثاره (مسالك الأبصار في ممالك الأمصار - خ) كبير، طبع المجلد الأول منه [ثم طُبعت أجزاء أخرى]، قال فيه ابن شاكر: كتاب حافل ما أعلم أن لأحد مثله.
وله (مختصر قلائد العقيان - خ) و (الشتويات - خ) مجموع رسائل، و (النبذة الكافية في معرفة الكتابة والقافية - خ) و (ممالك عباد الصليب - ط) و (الدائرة بين مكة والبلاد) و (التعريف بالمصطلح الشريف - ط) في مراسم الملك وما يتعلق
به، و (فواضل السمر في فضائل آل عمر) أربع مجلدات، و (يقظة الساهر) في الأدب، و (نفحة الروض) أدب، و (دمعة الباكي) أدب، و (صبابة المشتاق) في المدائح النبوية، أربع مجلدات.

Book Description
هذا هو السفر العشرون من أسفار مسالك الأبصار في ممالك الأمصار لابن فضل الله العمري أحد العلماء الأعلام المواصلة في القرن الثامن الهجري. وقد تخصص هذا الجزء بالحيوان على اختلافه والنباتات بأصنافه، وما أروع الله جلت قدرته وعلا فيهما من الخواص المسخرة لخدمة عموم البشر.
وقد اعتمد المؤلف في إنشاء هذا الجزء على كتب جعلها أساساً له، أهمها كتاب الحيوان لأبي عثمان الجاحظ، والجامع لمفردات الأدوية والأغذية لابن البيطار، وعجائب المخلوقات وغرائب الموجودات لأبي زكريا القزويني، وقد ذكر ذلك في مقدمة الكتاب. ولما كان هذا الكتاب من أهم الكتب المدونة في مادته فقد اعتنى "محمد نايف الدليمي" بتحقيق مادته، كما حرص كل الحرص على تصحيح وقع فيه الناسخ من تصحيف وتحريف الألفاظ.
هذا إلى جانب اهتمامه بوضع هامش ذكر فيه المصطلح للمفردة القديمة. كما حرص على أن يذكر الفصيلة التي ينتمي غليها هذا النبات أو ذاك، وذكر اسمه العلمي والإنجليزي، ثم قام بتوثيق ما استطاع أن يوثقه من الأشعار والأحاديث النبوية الشريفة والأمثال، والمأثور من كلام السلف، فضلاً عن الشروحات التي أوضح فيها مفردات الأدوية التي مرت أثناء الكتاب.
