إن المثل يعني تشبيه الحقيقة العقلية بالأمور الحسية الملموسة. فمن جانب هناك أمور عقلية كثيرة لا يفهمها أكثر الناس. ومن جانب آخر، فإن الناس اعتادوا على المحسوسات والعينات الملموسة. ولهذا المثل (عقول الناس في عيونهم) وهو يعني أن إدراك الناس للأمور الملموسة والمرتبة أسهل لهم. ومن هنا طرح القرآن بعض المفاهيم العقلية الرفيعة في قالب الأمثال ليسهل على الناس إدراكها. وعلى هذا؛ فإن فلسفة أمثال القرآن هو تنزيل القضايا العميقة والرفيعة إلى مستوى يتناسب مع أفق تفكير الناس. هذا ويشاهد في القرآن أكثر من خمسين مثلاً. ففي سورة البقرة التي هي ثاني سورة يوجد عشرة أمثال على أقل تقدير. فما هي الحكمة في الأمثال بحيث جاء بها القرآن وبهذا الحجم؟! وفي هذا الكتاب الذي هو مجموعة محاضرات يحاول آية الله مكارم الشيرازي بيان الأمثال في القرآن والحكمة منها. وقد جاءت تلك المحاضرات ضمن دروس تفسير القرآن في شهر رمضان من العام 1418هـ والتي دارت حول موضوع (أمثال القرآن) كما ذكرنا آنفاً، ليكون أرضية جديدة في التفسير ولكي تعمّ فائدته. وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن البعض يظن أن آيات أمثال القرآن الكريم قد فسرت بالمقدار الكافي في تفسير (الأمثل)؛ إلا أن مطالعة هذا الكتاب يكشف للقارئ أن أية الله الشيرازي قد توصل في هذه المحاضرات إلى حقائق جديدة وبديعة ومفيدة جداً لم يشر لها في تفسير (الأمثل) رغم كل مزاياه وامتيازاته، وهو لا يغني عن مطالعة هذا البحث.
