يبحث كتاب (الموجز) لأبي عمار عبد الكافي الأُباضي في القضايا التي وقع فيها الإختلاف بين المسلمين وهي: مشكلة القدر، أو الجبر والإختيار، أو أفعال العباد، كما يتحدث في التوحيد، ويرد على أهل الإلحاد، وأقاويل المخالفين. وفي هذا يقول مؤلفه عنه بأنه: "شاملاً للنوع الذي هو منه، في ذكر أقاويل المخالفين من أهل القبلة، والرد عليهم في خلافهم، وتبيين وجه الحق في كل ذلك من غيره بشواهده وأعلامه، بمبلغ العلم، ومنتهى الفهم، مقتفياً لآثار السلف، متبعاً لأعلام الخلف رحمة الله عليهم، غير مبتدع لغير ما قالوا ولا مستنبط في غير الذي أصّلوا، ورأيت أن أبدأ من ذلك بالقول في القدر وفي إثباته، لعظم بلية ذلك على الضعفة، وسُدّة مؤنته على العامة، ولتشغيب أهله على الناس، ولأنه أصل عظيم من أصول دين الله، الذي لا يقوم إلا به، بعد أن أذكر مقدمات في ترتيب المعاني، وتفضيل المباني، تكون تنبيهاً للمستفيد إذا سأل، وتثبيتاً للمفيد إذا أجاب ...".
وبناءً على ما تقدم يتناول الكتاب كافة الموضوعات التي هي محل جدلّ وفرقة قولاً وفعلاً وهي أربعة أصول، أما الأصل الأول منها: فهو قول أهل الدهر المنكرين لحدوث العالم، والأصل الثاني: قول التنويه القائلين بالنور والظلمة، والأصل الثالث: المنكرون لرسالة الرسل، والأصل الرابع هو ما يتعلق به أهل التشبيه، من هذه الأمة، المنتحلين لهذة الملّة. وهذه الأصول الربعة شرحها المؤلف في عدة فصول تجمع بين ما قاله "المنجمون" ، و "أهل الطبائع" ، و "مذهب أرسطاطاليس واصحابه". ثم يأتي على صفحة كل واحد منها، فيضعنا مؤلفه أمام ما قالته المذاهب المختلفة المخالفة لرسالة نبينا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، مثل: مقالة أهل التشبيه القائلين بالتجسيم، ومذهب المجردين للتجسيم بالتسمية دون التشبيه بزعمهم، ومقالة المشبهة الغالطين في التأويل، الحائدين عن التسمية بالتسجيم ... وغيرهم مما احتوت عليه مذاهب القوم على اختلاف مللهم ...
