هو رسام كاريكاتوري ساخر يقاتل بالريشة والورق وأخذ المواقف الجريئة بلغة ساخرة مليئة بقوة الانتقاد.
انتج نبيل أبو حمد مؤلفات عديدة منها: عام بـ "هواء" وهي لوحات وجهية كاريكاتورية لشخصيات عربية وعالمية (1981).
وجوه وهي مجموعة أخرى من الوجوه (1986).
رسم قصائد الشعراء مثل نزار قباني وانطوان رعد وغازي القصيبي بطريقة الليثوغراف الملون.
"عبق نساء عرق رجال" وهي مجموعة قصصية (1995).
"الضرب على العصب" وهي مجموعة قصصية (1999).
"العطيلي" وهي رواية (2002).
"اللصوص" وهي مجموعة قصصية (2007).
له اهتمامات أخرى، فهو يشتغل على إنتاج مسلسل لافلام دمى متحركة، ويدير مع قاعة للعروض التشكيلية في لندن، ومدير فني لمجلة الحوادث ورسام كاريكاتور جريدة المستقبل.

يعتمد نبيل أبو حمد في هذه المجموعة القصصية على الإضاءة السريعة والباهرة في رسم الحدث، بالتقاط باهر، وبما يشبه الصورة الفوتوغرافية في لحظة تضيء وتنطفئ، وتكون قد التقطت المشهد بكل تفاصيله باختصار.
هذه قصص أولاً، ثم الجمل السريعة، التي تعطي القارئ الإحساس بأنه يشاهدها على شاشة سينما.
براعة نبيل أبو حمد تجسدت عنده من خلال عمله الفني أيضاً ففي رسومه الكاريكاتورية نجد في الرسم الواحد ما يجسد الحدث الذي رسمه كأنه أيضاً قصة بحد ذاتها. إنه يجسد كل ما يريد أن يقوله في رسم كاريكاتير واحد... وهذا ما فعله هنا، حيث في بضعة سطور يقول كل شيء.. ولم ينسى الكاتب هذا الظلم الذي يحيط بالإنسان العربي مضطهداً وسجيناً وقتيلاً.
إلى جانب ذلك كله، فقصصه هنا قصص ممسرحة إذا صح التعبير. فهو يكتب وأبطاله يظهرون على المسرح بكل وضوح وجرأة ليقولوا كلمتهم الأقوى اللصوص؟
