ومع ذلك، ينطوي هذا الكتاب في خلفيّته الأصليّة على مقاصد تتجاوز مجرّد التأريخ الفلسفيّ لتُبرز إمكانات التراكم المعرفيّ المخصب والتناول الفلسفيّ النقديّ. فالبناء الفلسفيّ الأوّل الذي شيّده هؤلاء الفلاسفة ينبغي أن يُنظَر فيه نظراً ناقداً حتّى تُستخرج منه عناصرُه القابلة للحياة وللاستثمار. لذلك يحفِّز هذا الكتاب على اشتباك فلسفيّ بنّاء ينشط بين أهل الفلسفة في لبنان وفي والوطن العربيّ من أجل مناقشة.
