إن كلمة التوحيد "لا إله إلا الله" كلمة جامعة كاملة لا يزاد فيها ولا ينقص، ومضمونها إنما هو ما جاء به رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من دين الإسلام. ومعناها: نفي الآلهة كلها من كل الوجوه، وإثبات الإله الحق الواحد الأحد الصمد، الذي لم يلد ولم يولد، ولم يكن له كفواً أحد. ومقتضاها: الكفر بالطواغيت وكل الآلهة دون الله. وهذه الكلمة هي الفارقة بين الكفر والإسلام، وهي كلمة التقوى والعروة الوثقى، وهي التي جعلها إبراهيم عليه الصلاة والسلام كلمة باقية في عقبه، وليس المراد قولها باللسان فقط مع الجهل بمعناها، وإنما المراد قولها مع معرفتها بالقلب والإذعان بها، ومحبتها ومحبة أهلها، وبعض ما خالفها ومعاداته.
ورسالتنا هذه "التجريد في إعراب كلمة التوحيد وما يتعلق بمعناها في التمجيد" هي الرسالة التاسعة من رسائل العلامة "علي بن سلطان محمد القاري"، وهي رسالة من لون آخر، إذ غلب على الرسائل السابقة للمصنف الطابع الحديثي، والفقهي، والعقدي، وما يخص التزكية والتربية، أما هذه فهي في إعراب كلمة التوحيد: لا إله إلا الله"، جمع المصنف فيها الأقوال التي قيلت في إعرابها، وأعقبها المعاني واللطائف التي تتعلق بمعناها ولأهميتها عني" مشهور حسن سلمان" بتحقيقها واقتصر عمله على: ضبط لنصها، تخريج الأحاديث التي فيها، عزو الآيات التي جاءت بها إلى سورها في القرآن الكريم، التعليق على الأمور الضرورية منها.
