يضم هذا الكتاب بين طياته بحثاً علمياً فقهياً يراع السيد "محمد حسين فضل الله" متحدثاً فيه عن مسالة البلوغ وذلك بالاستناد إلى القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية الشريفة، فتوقف أولاً عند فقه القرآن في ما تعرض له من معنى البلوغ، من تم تعرض لفقه السنة مبسطاً الحديث في هذا الباب حول علامات البلوغ ومدى اشتراك الذكر والأنثى فيهما، من ثم عقد بحثاً خاصاً تحدث فيه عن سن البلوغ عند فقده العلاجات السابقة فيبحث أولاً في سن الذكر، وثانياً في سن بلوغ الأنثى.
إن قراءة النصوص الفقهية قراءة تفكيكية أو تركيبية من شؤون الممارسة الفقهية نفسها، وليس التفكيك والتركيب منهجيتين يختار الفقيه -سلفاً- واحدة منهما يتبعها، على هدي ما شاع من أن الفقه عبارة عن تجميع المتفرقات وتفريق المجتمعات.
هذا الكتاب يعكس رؤية جديدة للفقيه المجدد السيد محمد حسين فضل الله في قراءة النصوص الفقهية، في واحدة من مهمات المسائل، ويفتح نافذة على آفاق جديدة في التفكير الفقهي، ما قد يحل بعض المشاكل التي يواجهها الفقيه في فهم النصوص واختلافاتها.
