الكتب العسكرية بشكل عام هي مؤلفات تبحث إما في التاريخ العسكري وتحليلاته، أو في الاستراتيجيات العسكرية ومواصفاتها وتكنولوجيتها. وقد تتحدث خلال هذه السياقات أو بصورة منفصلة عن الشخصيات العسكرية الشهيرة ونشأتها وأفكارها وتطبيقات هذه الأفكار. وفي مجمل الأطر السابقة-يبقى الموضوع جامداً له صبغة أكاديمية أو نحوها. وهنا برزت فكرة هذا العمل الذي يحاول اختصار صفحات لأحداث التاريخ والتكنولوجيا وتطبيقاتها، والفكر وأصحابه في صورة سؤال وجواب ثم رسم تصوّر للماضي والحاضر والمستقبل في إطار مبسط بعيد عن السرد التعليمي الإنشائي.
ومما تجدر إشارته أن ما في هذا العمل ليس محاولة لاختبار معلومات القارئ العسكرية بأي صورة، بل هو محاولة لإضافة معلومة أو معلومات بصورة جديدة لم يتعودها قراء الكتب العسكرية العربية الجامدة. وفيه بالتالي مسح للأشخاص والأفكار والمعدات والحوادث التي ارتبطت بالحرب والعسكر منذ فجر التاريخ وحتى اليوم.
يحتوي هذا الكتاب، كما يشير عنوانه، على معلومات ثمينة تجيب على التساؤلات العديدة التي قد تخطر أو لا تخطر ببال القارئ في مجال العلوم العسكرية والوقائع والأحداث المرتبطة بها والأسلحة المختلفة التي تستخدم في الحروب بشتّى صنوفها وأنواعها.
ولا شكّ في أنّ القارئ سيفاجأ بالكثير من المعلومات الجديدة، التي ستدحض مسلّمات كثيرة لديه حول الأداة العسكريّة والعمل العسكريّ الذي بات واحداُ من أخطر الوجوه الّتي تطبع الحضارة الغربيّة المعاصرة.
وفي هذا العمل الموسوعيّ الجديد يحاول المؤلف أن يختصر صفحات التاريخ والتكنولوجيا العسكريّة، منذ الإنسان الأوّل حتّى عصر عسكرة الفضاء، بشكل أسئلة وأجوبة تحمل في طيّاتها كلّ ما هو طريف ونادر ومبكٍ ولا معقول من المعلومات والحقائق، بهدف إبقاء العين مفتوحة على الكيفيّة الّتي تمّ بها فرض خريطة الواقع والمستقبل على البشريّة بالفكر والسلاح.
