يدفعني لكتابة هذه الكلمة أن الشرق الأوسط يمر في عاصفة هستيرية خطرة إلى أبعد الحدود، وإذا كانت إيران محور هذا الكتاب فسيرى القارئ أنه لا يقتصر على إيران وحدها.
بالأحرى، فهو خلاصة 40 سنة في السياسة وفي الصحافة قضاها الصديق نذير فنصه مؤلف هذا الكتاب متنقلاً بين عواصم الشرق الأوسط وأوروبا وأمريكا، والذي شغل بعض المناصب السياسية لفترات قصيرة في موطنه دمشق، وانتدب في مهمات سياسية سيطالع القارئ بعضها في فصول هذا الكتاب.
إن القضية الجوهرية في الشرق الأوسط اليوم هي الصراع العربي - الإسرائيلي، ولكن هذه المنطقة الغنية بالنفط عرضة لصراعات الدول الكبرى جميعاً.
ولو نظرنا إلى تطورات الشرق الأوسط في غضون 30 سنة لتبين لنا أن النفوذ السوفياتي يزداد يوماً بعد يوم، ليس فقط في البلاد العربية من الشرق الأوسط، بل وفي بلدانه الإسلامية أيضاً تركيا، باكستان، أفغانستان، الصومال، وأثيوبيا.
وغالباً ما يبدو أن حركات التغيير العنيفة تنتهي لتصب في صالح الإتحاد السوفياتي، وكانت آخر قلعة غربية هي إيران التي هوت في العام الماضي، والتي عاش فيها الأخ نذير فنصه ورافق أحداثها طيلة 22 سنة، ولهذا سيرى القارئ أنه توسع في تطورات الثورة الإيرانية ليعطي عنها فكرة واقعية صادقة ومتجردة، ذلك لأنه اعتقد أن القارئ الغربي يجهل الكثير عن دوافع وأسرار الثورة الإيرانية الإسلامية.
