بين يدينا كتاب ثمين ضمّنه المؤلّف طائفة من عجائب أحكم أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه انتخبها من مصادر الخاصّة والعامّة المعتبرة كــ: مناقب ابن شهراشوب، إرشاد المفيد، الكافي للكليني، السياسة الشرعيّة وأعلام الموقّعين وكلاهما لابن قيم الجوزيّة، الأذكياء لابن الجوزيّ، ورتّبها حسب تسلسها الزمني؛ أي: قضاياه في حياة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قضاياه في زمن خلافة أبي بكر، قضاياه في زمن خلافة عمر بن الخطّاب، قضاياه في زمن خلافة عثمان بن عفّان، قضايا في زمن خلافته رضي الله عنه، وأخيراً، المسائل الّتي سئل عنها وأجوبته رضي الله عنه العجيبة لها مرتّبة أيضاً على التسلسل الزمن المتقدّم.
وكان المؤلّف رضي الله عنه قد وجد كتاب "عجائب أحكام أمير المؤمنين عليّ بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه" أو "قضايا أمير المؤمنين عليّ بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه" رواية محمد بن عليّ بن إبراهيم بن هاشم القمّيّ، عن أبيه، عن جدّه، فأدرجه ضمن كتابه هذا إلاّ أنّه ليس في مكان واحد، وذلك لأنّ المؤلف اعتمد الترتيب الزمني وهو ما لم يكن موجوداً في كتاب القمّي.
