أفرد العلماء كتاباً ضخماً في قضايا أمير المؤمنين على بن أبي طالب عليه السلام وأحكامه؛ وممن عني بهذه الأقضية الإمام الترمذي الذي جمعها ونقل قسماً كبيراً منها العلامة ابن قيم الجوزية في كتاب السياسة الشرعية وكتاب عجائب أحكامه رواية محمد بن علي بن إبراهيم ابن هاشم عن أبيه عن جده، وكتاب محمد بن قيس البجلي من أصحاب الصادق والكاظم عليهما السلام، فإن له كتاب قضايا أمير المؤمنين يرويه عنه النجاشي والشيخ الطوسي بسنديهما. بالإضافة إلى مجموعة نفيسة كتب قسم منها سنة 410 و 420 هجرية ومن محتوياتها (كتاب عجائب أحكام أمير المؤمنين على بن أبي طالب) والكتاب يقع في 61 صفحة وفيه أكثر من 145 قضية وحكم لأمير المؤمنين حول المسائل الغامضة فجملها من جملة أحكامه مع أنها ليست من أحكامه. وقد جمع محسن الأمين الحسيني العاملي جملة ما جاء من قضايا وأحكام أمير المؤمنين في هذا الكتاب، مدرجاً جميع الأحاديث برواياتها كما في الأصل كلا مع مناسبته، إلا ما كان من أجوبة المسائل فيدرجه في أجوبة المسائل. ثم أن قضاياه وأحكامه منها ما وقع في حياة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ومنها ما وقع في خلافة أبي بكر ومنها ما وقع في خلافة عمر ومنها ما وقع في خلافة عثمان ومنها ما وقع في خلافته هو.
