يتضمن هذا الكتاب مبحثين لمتحاورين اثنين، الأول تحت عنوان "الصوفية هي الحكمة المتحققة في الحياة، منظور جديد" يقدم فيه المؤلف دراسة تأملية واعية عن التاريخ السراني غير المعلن الذي يؤدي إلى فهم المبادئ التي تتميز بالحكمة الصوفية كما يقدم دفاعاً أخلاقياً وعقلياً وإنسانياً واجتماعياً عن حقيقة المبدأ الصوفي العقلي، وعن الصوفية التي هي الحكمة الأزلية والوعي الكوني الكامنان في عمق الوعي الإنساني والمنبتان في الوجود الكلي. وتتجلى هذه الصوفية في ثلاث مظاهر: 1-الحكمة الإلهية (ثيوصوفيا)، 2-الحكمة المبدئية (صوفيا)، 3-محبة الحكمة (فيلوصوفيا)، ورأى أن المفاهيم التي تتميز بها الصوفية -الحكمة لا علاقة لها بالانعزال، أو الزهد الزائف، أو رفض العالم واحتقاره، والاستسلام إلى غيبيات مضللة.
وفي المبحث الثاني (الميستية والتصوف) يقدم المؤلف مبررات التصوف القديمة والحديثة من الناحية العقلية المنطقية، ويبين حقيقة الصوفية وعلاقتها بالنبوة وماهية الكرامات. ثم يدرس الفرق بين الميستية والتصوف في الحضارات الشرقية، ويرى أن التصوف حالة فردية وليست اجتماعية، فالمشاهدة الميستية منضبطة بقواعد اللاهوت الكنسي، بخلاف المشاهدة الصوفية التي لا تحدها ضوابط، فلذا تدفع باتجاه التخلف؟ ثم يوضح المؤلف طبيعة الميستية الغربية، ويذكر الفرق بينها وبين التصوف وعلاقة الأحوال التي يمر بها الصوفيون بالاضطرابات العصبية النفسية.
