يضم هذا الكتاب أعمال ندوة صيف العام 2006م، التي نظمها منتدى عبد الحميد شومان الثقافي في السادس عشر من شهر أيلول من العام نفسه، تكريماً واحتفاءاً بعطاء الأستاذ الدكتور هاشم ياغي وإنجازاته الأدبية والفكرية والإنسانية على مدى حياته المديدة بإذن الله، وهي الندوة التي شاركت، في أعمالها، نخبة من أعلام الفكر في الأردن، ومن الذين عرفوا الدكتور ياغي عن كثب إنساناً ومثقفاً وصاحب موقف في الأدب والحياة على السواء.
وفي مقدمة الكتاب، التي وضعها الأستاذ الدكتور خليل الشيخ، يقول: "يتلاقى، في تكوين أستاذنا الدكتور هاشم ياغي، المعرفة العميقة بالموروث الأدبي، وبالأدب العربي الحديث، وما يتصل به من رؤى نقدية، فالدكتور ياغي عاشق للشعر الجاهلي، وثيق الصلة به وبشعرائه وقضاياه، فضلاً عن علاقته المتينة بالشعر العربي الحديث وبالسرديات المعاصرة.
ولعل من الضروري أن أبين أن الدكتور ياغي من الأكاديميين العرب الرواد، الذين ظلوا يقرأون الشعر العربي القديم من منظور الزمن الذي نحياه، ومن الذين ظلوا يحرصون على أن تبقى قراءتهم منهجية تسعى إلى كشف الجذر الإنساني للإبداع، وتتوقف عند المعضلات التي شغلت المبدع العربي قديماً وحديثاً".
