مثلما هو الجواهري دائماً مالئ الدنيا وشاغل الناس، تميز بعراقيته وتميز به العراق، وسيرة الجوهري الذاتية هي سيرة الأرض والماء والنخيل ففي الكوفة تلك المدينة التي نازعت مدينة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم السلطان السياسي والفكري والتي كانت موطناً لتلاحق الأفكار واصطدامها. بذرت البذور الأولى وكتب الجواهري حلمه وتمرده حيث ظل إرث المتسائل والاعتراض عنصراً تكونيياً عناصر الذات العراقية. وقد وعى الجواهري ميراثه الثقيل فترات يستمد من المتنبي تمرده ورفضه لمجتمعه العراقي المعاصر "مشت بها جاهليات وعنجهية، ولاث منها النفوس الثأر والقود".
ويبحث الجواهري في كل ذلك عن تفسير لهذا التفسخ والعبث في الحياة فيجد ذلك في النسيج الاجتماعي الذي يفرز نمطين من البشر نمط الإنسان الضعيف المتهافت حد التجرد من إنسانيته، ونمط الإنسان الشرير المتهتك المتبرئ من العفة الاجتماعية. والدراسة التي وضعها الدكتور محمد جواد رضا في عشرة فصول وهو ليس تاريخ قدر ما هو خطوات في جنّات هذا الفردوس كما يقول الكاتب.
