هذا الكتاب ماذا عن الإسلام يبين أن الإسلام دين عظيم, ورباط متين, فهو ليس عبارة عن صيام وصلاة و قيام بمناسك الحج, والتزام بدور العبادة, وتهذيب النفوس وتحسين الأخلاق, وما الى ذلك من هذه الالتزامات التي يحلو للمستعمرين في كل زمان ومكان, في الشرق والغرب, أن يدندنوا بها, ويصوروها للآخرين, مغفلين أهمية الدين الإسلامي كنظام اجتماعي واقتصادي و سياسي كامل, فالدين ليس داعياً للتخلف والجمود, والدين ليس داعياً لتعليق الأبصار بالسماء, والإستكانة, والرضى والخنوع كما تصوره وسائل الإعلام المغرضة في العصر الحاضر. فالإسلام كان منذ بداياته دعوة إلى التقدم والعلم, فقد بدأ بالأمر الإلهي- إقرأ-, وهذه الكلمة التي ربما يمر بها البعض مرور الكرام, دون اعطائها ذاك الاهتمام المطلوب, فهذه الكلمة -إقرأ- إنما هي تلخيص لنظام كامل آت فيما بعد, نظام داع إلى التخلص من التبعية, والابتعاد عن التقليد الأعمى, ولا يتم ذلك إلا بالقراءة والاطلاع وطلب المعرفة. لماذا؟ لأن الإنسان عندما يبدأ بالقراءة ويطلع على ثقافات الآخرين, سوف يفكر, في هذه الصور التي تمر بعقله وذهنه, وهو عندما يفكر يبدأ بالشك, و عندما يبدأ بالشك يكون قد وضع رجله على أول الطريق إلى الحقيقة, الطريق إلى التمييز بين الأسود والأبيض, وهكذا يبدأ التفكير. ومن أهم موضوعات الكتاب: عودة الحضارة, الإسلام والعقل, الإسلام والعلم, الإسلام والأخلاق, الإسلام والمرأة, الإسلام والاقتصاد.
