تعد تقنيات التعليم أحد العناصر المهمة داخل المنظومة الإتصالية، خاصة في منظومة الإتصال التعليمي، فهي التي تسهل وتيسر حدوث التعلم داخل المواقف التعليمية، وهي الطريقة المنهجية التي تهتم بتصميم المواقف التعليمية والتعلمية، ولا يقف دورها عند هذا الحد، بل يمتد إلى التخطيط للتنفيذ والتقويم في ضوء مجموعة الأهداف المحددة.
وتحوي تقنيات التعليم مجموعة المواد التعليمية التي تؤدي إلى الإثارة والتحفيز، وتُحِد من تشتّت الذهن، وتُخَفّف من الشرود، مع ضمان السرعة في تقديم المعلومات، وتوفير الوقت والجهد، بهدف الوصول إلى مردود تعليمي إيجابي.
ويأتي هذا المؤَلَّف ليتيح للقارئ الجانب النظري لتقنيات التعليم والمفاهيم المهمة في ذلك المجال، ثم الجانب التطبيقي لمجموعة المواد التعليمية المطبقة داخل القاعات الدراسية، مع ضمان القدرة على التحصيل، وبقاء المعلومات، وزيادة الإيجابية للمتعلم.
والمؤَلَّف يحوي ستة أبواب، تناول الباب الأول مفهوم تقنيات التعليم، ومراحل تطوره، ثم علاقتها بكل من تكنولوجيا التربية، أما الباب الثاني فقد تناول أحد مكونات منظومة تقنيات التعليم وهي الوسائل التعليمية، وجاء الباب الثالث ليقدم الإتصال التعليمي، وتوضيح مفهومه وعناصره مع عرض بعض النماذج للإتصال التعليمي التقليدي والمعاصر، وفي الباب الرابع، وتحت عنوان "مدخل النظم والتصميم المنهجي للتعليم"، فقد تم عرض مفهوم النظام وعناصره، وعلاقته بتقنيات التعليم.
ويأتي الباب الخامس ليعالج أحد تقنيات التعليم الجديدة وهي المراكز المتخصصة في تقنين المعرفة والمعلومات، وأما الباب السادس والأخير وعنوانه "المواد التعليمية"، فقد تضمن الباب مفهوم المواد التعليمية، وموقعها من منظومة الوسائل التعليمية، تصنيفها، معايير ومراحل تصميمها وإنتاجها.
