يندرج هذا الكتاب ضمن ما يعرف اليوم بصناعة القوائم "الببليوغرافية" بعامة، وفي نطاق الضرب التعدادي المنحصر في موضوع محدد Enumerative Biblography وضرب "السيرة الببليوغرافية Biobibiography" بخاصة، لأنه في موضوع واحد في زمن محدد، ولأنه وقف على شخصية واحدة وعلى كل ما يمت إليها بوشائج وصلات. لقد وزعت مواده وعددها (259) مادة على ثلاثة فصول: الأول: للترجمات العربية للرباعيات شعراً ونثراً وأدباً، والثاني: للتواليف والآثار الكاملة في الخيام والرباعيات، والخير للبحوث والمقالات، وللفصل والإشارات التي وردت في مؤلفات عرّجت على الخيام أو الرباعيات. ورتبت المواد في الفصول الثلاثة جميعاً ترتيباً هجائياً وفقاً لأسماء أصحابها، ثم اقتصرت على كشاف واحد فقط للأعلام يجمع أرقام موادهم أو المواد التي ذكروا فيها. وصرفت النظر عن كشاف للموضوعات، فيما هو مألوف في الأعمال الكبيرة، طرداً للإعادة والتكرار.
