ما اهتم المسلمون على اختلاف مذاهبهم ولغاتهم بكتاب قدر اهتمامهم بالقرآن الكريم، فتعاهدوه دراسة وتلاوة وتفسيراً. كلُّ يقتبس من نوره حسب قدرته، ويتشرف بإسهامه مهما كان يسيراً في خدمة كتاب الله تعالى. لذلك كثرت تفاسير القرآن وتعدّدت اتجاهات المفسرين، فمن كان مهتم بالجانب اللغوي فيه، ومن منكب على الناحية العقائدية. وآخر متجه صوب تفسيره بما ورد من الأثر، ورابع مستأنس باستخراج درة العرفانية، ولئن كان نصيب بعض التفاسير وافراً من الذيوع، فتعدد ناسخوه سابقاً وناشروه لاحقاً، كتفسير ابن كثير وتفسير الطبري ومفاتيح الرازي وكشاف الزمخشري. فلقد ضرب خمول الذكر على تفاسير أخرى، فحصرت الاستفادة منها في قليل من الباحثين.
وتفسير الحداد هو كنز من هذه الكنوز المخفية، فهو تفسير مختصر بالنسبة إلى غيره من المطولات إلا أن اختصاره غير مخل، فهو اختصار عالم مدفق فقيه خالص محقق، إذ يشتمل على أمور هامة في التفسير ويمثل منهجاً علمياً دقيقاً يجمع بين الرواية والدراية، أو بين الاتجاهين: الأثر والرأي في التفسير.
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب اعتنى الدكتور "محمد إبراهيم يحي" الأستاذ المساعد في تفسير القرآن وعلومه بالجامعة الأسمرية -ليبيا بتحقيق هذا التفسير وبالتقديم له بدارسة مطولة بعد مدخلاً لمعرفة المفسر وخصائص تفسيره، وهذه المقدمة تم جمعها في دارة منفصلة من الكتاب جاءت تحت عنوان: "5SiXHhOdBIhref='/abookstore/bookpage.asp?id=96707'>المدخل إلى تفسير القرآن الكريم 'الحداد نموذجاً'".
