أذكر أنه في صباح ذاك اليوم- حيث بدأت تتشكل رسوم الحكاية- جلست أمي وقد احتضنت أخي الوليد الصغير والذي لم تمض على ولادته سوى بضعة أسابيع، حيث راحت تحرر أحد ثدييها، ثم قربته من الفم الصغير، فأخذ الطفل يقبض بشفتيه الناعمتين على الحَلَمَة، يمتص الحليب- وكنت جالسة قبالتها- انطلقت عبر لساني تلك الدعابة، والتي يبدو أنها كانت ضرورية لتبدأ الحكاية جيداً، قلن لأمي:
- أستطيع أن أرضعه أنا.
هكذا يبدأ الروائي عدنان خضور روايته، متقمّصاً العالم الداخلي للأنثى، مستخدماً صوتها للتعبير عن أحلامها وهمومها وهواجسها.
إلى أي مدى تمكّن خضور من مقاربة عالم بطلة روايته.. ذلك ما نتركه للقارئ.
