"الصبي الخادم" للروائي الكاميروني "فردينا ندابونو"،هي واحدة من النتاجات الإبداعية الأفريقية المعاصرة، التي تسجل لمرحلة الدخول الاستعماري لإفريقيا، والتحولات والصراعات التي فجرها هذا الدخول. وفي هذه الرواية يقدم "فردينا ندابونو" نموذجاً صغيراً للصراع الكبير الذي شهدته أفريقيا في بحثها عن ذاتها، والرواية في بنيتها العامة، لا تدعي شيئاً، إذ تمزج السرد بأسلوب اليوميات الشخصية، وتقدم من خلال عين الصبي الأفريقي رؤيتها للعالم، هذا الفتى الذي يلحق بالأبيض المستعمر الكاهن ثم الضابط، ثم كيف يموت عندما يموت شعوره بالانتماء، ثم كيف يكمل الأبيض الموت الرمزي ليحيله إلى موت حقيقي، وهي مكتوبة بلغة اليوميات وقائمة على المفارقة الدائمة التي تسخر، وتقود سخريتها في النهاية إلى قلب المأساة، وإذا كان "ايونو" يقدم النهاية المأساوية لبطلة في بداية الرواية، فإنه لا يقوم جديداً، إذ يقوم باستعارة شكل الحكاية التقليدية حيث الخاتمة أو النتيجة، ليست هامة، بل الأهمية هي للمسار، أي للحكاية، والمسار يدور بشكل بسيط، وبساطته هي التي تضفي عليه هذا البعد السافر، فعبر السخرية يتحرر الإنسان الأسود من دونيته، وعبرها أيضاً تنكشف مفارقات الممارسة الاستعمارية البيضاء.
