ولقد حرص المؤلِّف على الإستناد إلى المنهج التاريخي في إيراد الحوادث والوقائع؛ التي أرَّخ لها في مؤلَّفه هذا، حتى أبسط المسائل التاريخية؛ من ذكر أسماء الأمراء والأماكن، والأقوال التي تناولت تلك الأحداث.
ولقد اعتمد المؤلف على أصول ومراجع موثوقة، حتى أخرج هذا الكتاب بهذه الحلة العلمية التي تعطي الكتاب قيمته التاريخية من جهة، والأدبية من جهة أخرى.
