حظيت التربية المقارنة منذ القدم بإهتمام العاملين في مجال التربوي، في كافة أنحاء العالم، لأنها ترتبط إرتباطاً وثيقاً بعملية التطور الإنساني الذي يشهده العالم اليوم، وكان المهتمون بدراسة التربية المقارنة يبحثون في طرق تربية الأمم الأكثر تقدماً، ليأخذوا منهم وعنهم ما يمكن أنْ يفيدَ في تثقيف أبنائهم، في إطار ثقافة مجتمعهم، إلى أنْ جاء القرن العشرون، فأصبحت التربية المقارنة علماً مستقلاً، فرضته الحاجة الملحَّة إلى تطور الأنظمة التربوية، في المجتمعات التي تريد اللحاق بركب الأمم المتحضرة، ولما لهذه المعرفة من أهمية في تغيير المجتمعات، فقد أنشأت بعض الجامعات مراكز خاصة للتربية المقارنة، كما أنشأت جامعات أخرى أقساماً مستقلة للتربية المقارنة.
ولأهمية هذا الموضوع جاء هذا الكتاب في التربية المقارنة، ليبحث "التربية الدينية المقارنة"، (تربية الديانات السماوية وغير السماوية).
