يتضمن هذا الكتاب معلومات هامة في التاريخ السياسي والحضاري للدولة الإسلامية في العصر المملوكي الأول، من تأليف المؤرخ "موسى اليوسفي" الذي عاصر فترة حكم "الناصر محمد بن قلاون" الذي احتل مكانه خاصة بين سلاطين الممالك في مصر والشام.
وقد أحب "اليوسفي" التاريخ وتعاطى النظم والنثر "مع عدم الإشتغال بالعربية فكان يأتي مع ذلك بالعجايب"، وقد كان "اليوسفي" مقرباً من كبار معاصريه مما وفر له سبل الإتصال بكبار رجالات العصر بما فيهم السلطان نفسه، فكان بمثابة مصدراً لكثير من المعلومات عن أحوال السلطنة المملوكية وأخبار الغول.
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب قام بتحقيقه "د.أحمد حطيط" معتمداً على صورة شمسية لمخطوطة في مكتبة آيا صوفيا موجودة في مكتبة الجامعة الأميركية ببيروت، وهي تتألف من 183 ورقة مكتوبة بخط نسخي جميل؛ وكان منهج تحقيقه كالتالي: 1-أثبتَ المخطوط على حاله، 2-زاد الهمزة حيث لا يؤمن اللَّبْس في القراءة، 3-اعتمد كتابه عقد الجمان والسلوك في المقابلة، 4-قارن ما ورد في المتن من حوادث وتواريخ وأسماء أشخاص وأماكن بكتب الحوليات والتراجم والطبقات المعاصرة لليوسفي بصورة أساسية، وأهم المصادر المتأخرة مع تعليقات مشاهير المؤرخين المحدثين، 5-رجع في تراجم الأشخاص والأماكن وتفسير معاني الألفاظ إلى المصادر المعاصرة والمتأخرة.
