في مجموعته الشعرية "هذا الأزرق أنا" يشكل المكان الثيمة الأكثر بروزاً في شعرية طلال شتوي، فيحضر البحر الأزرق والسماء الزرقاء وأشياء الطبيعة بكل تفاصيلها وخصوصياتها في وجدان الشاعر، فكانت محور النص وعلامة فنيته، وكأن "شتوي" أراد أن يلزم المتلقى في دعوته لصحبة ذلك المكان، وإقامة علاقة خاصة معه، يبوحان له بأسرارهما، ومن ذلك قوله: "يا أميري الغامض / يا الماء / الهواء / الرحيل / يا بعيدي الأزرق / يا الحلم / الغيم / المستحيل / يا بحر بيروت / تزورني مكسور الخاطر / كما الراجع من حرب / كيف أرتب لك وجهي / ولون عيني؟" وبهذا المعنى يرتقي المكان، ليشكل بعداً ذاتياً في تجربة الشاعر وحكمته التي وعاها عنه، وبهذا المعنى أيضاً يكون بين النص والشاعر والعنوان علاقة تكاملية.
تضم المجموعة قصائد نثرية، وأخرى في الشعر العربي الحديث نذكر من عناوينها: "أنا" ، "في الإحتفال السنوي" ، "لم أخطط للأمر" ، "نقلاً عن مناماته" ، "أخذه الحنين" ، "كما ينبغي" ، "واستراح" ، "كتب ولم يعد" ، "وحدي" ، "لن أنجو" ، "في مقعد مجاور" ، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
