رينهارت دوزي (1820-1883) مستشرق هولندي ذائع الصيت وأستاذ العربية في كلية الآداب في جامعة لايدن، وقد واشتهر بدراساته القيمة في تاريخ وجغرافية المغرب، وفي تاريخ الدول العربية في الأندلس وفي المغرب على السواء، ويعتبر مؤلفه الموسوعي: "تكملة المعاجم العربية" المرجع الأوحد للمفردات والألفاظ التي لم ترد في المعاجم العربية. وصدور هذا العمل الموسوعي الفذ عام 1881 حدا بالمشرق "ستانلي بول" إلى غض النظر عن إصدار الكتاب الثاني في "حد القاموس" للمستشرق الكبير إدوارد وليم لين، الذي كان سيشتمل على مثل تلك الشوارد من المفردات والألفاظ وقد نال المستشرق دوزي تقديراً لخدماته العلمية الجلى العديد من الأوسمة الرفيعة وألقاب الشرق من مختلف الرتب وعين فيما بعد مراسلاً لأكاديمية العلوم في بطرسبرج، وللمعهد الفرنسي في باريس.
