إن مسألة السير والسلوك إلى الله-من المسائل التي اكتسبت مكانة مرموقة بين العلوم، لشرف موضوعها، وسمو غايتها، ومظهر جمالها فالتلذذ بها يحقق في الإنسان معاني الإنسانية الرفيعة، وتحيطه بهالة وضاءة من الجمال والكمال، وصفاء الروح الملكوتية التي حلقت إلى عالم الملكوت، لتقرب إلى لقاء الحبيب، الحب الحقيقي الذي به يصل الإنسان إلى الكمالات الروحية، والسعادة السرمدية، والحياة الأبدية، ولذلك لا بد أن يلتفت الإنسان إلى نفسه ليحاسبها دائماً، فبالأعمال الصالحة يستطيع السالك إلى الله أن يصل إلى قربه ومحبته، ولا يكون الإنسان كذلك إلا وصفَّى ظاهره وباطنه من الرذائل والأحقاد. ومما لا شك فيه أن الكثير مما كَتَبَ وألف في كيفية السلوك إلى الله-سبحانه وتعالى-وتكميل النفس وتزكيتها، ولكن القلة منهم أتقن التحدث عن هذا الطريق الصعب، الذي لا يجد حلاوته إلا من خصه الله سبحانه وتعالى بنور الولاية-بصورة سلسة واضحة. وبين يدينا الآن نموذج من نماذج الكتب التي تتحدث عن السلوك إلى الله، صاغه أحد أعلام مدرسة الشيخ أحمد بن زين الدين الأحسائي، وتحدث عبر فصوله الأربعة عن ما ينبغي أن يكون عليه السالك إلى الله من الأموال والأخلاق والحركات والسكنات، والأقوال، وفي سائر الأحوال.
