يعد موضوع "التوبة" من أهم الموضوعات التربوية التي يحتاجها المجتمع المسلم باستمرار، وخاصة وهو اليوم يعيش مرحلة الانتماء الهادف والصحيح للإسلام حيث يرى وفيه يمر في منعطف تاريخي عظيم، متجسداً في عودة الإسلام إلى قيادة الحياة من جديد... فالانتماء الحقيقي للإسلام أصبح اليوم مطلباً رئيسياً لدى أكثر أبناء الأمة، وهم ينظرون إلى رسالتهم الإلهية تشق دروب النصر في كل مكان من العالم متحدية قوى الشرق والغرب...
وموضوع التوبة على صغره، فإنه يحتوي أفكاراً وتوجيهات أخلاقية قيمة ومهمة جداً على الصعيد التربوي، كما يشتمل على قضايا قانونية تحتل ركناً أساسياً في مواد القضاء الإسلامي، ولهذا حاولت الدراسة التي بين يدينا مقاربة هذا الموضوع على ضوء القرآن الكريم وأحاديث أهل البيت عليهم السلام وذلك في قسمين رئيسيين: القسم الأول: يتناول أطروحة التوبة بشكل عام من خلال الأفكار التربوية والمفاهيم الأخلاقية والأحكام الشرعية التي أثارها الإسلام حول هذا الموضوع. القسم الثاني: خصص لدراسة أحكام المجرمين والمذنبين التائبين وموقف المحكمة الإسلامية منهم. وسيكون المستفيد الأول من هذا القسم هم قضاة المحاكم الإسلامية وطلاب الدراسات الفقهية والقانونية.
والكتاب الذي بين أيدينا يجسد طموحات القسم الأول من هذه الدراسة المترابطة، وقد تميز في طريقة دراسته للموضوع بالخصائص التالية: 1-حاول سد الثغرات التربوية والفقهية التي أغفلها الكتّاب السابقون الذين كتبوا في موضوع "التوبة" من قبل، وهي كثيرة جداً. 2-استهدف الكتاب استعراض موضوع "التوبة" بكل تصوراته الرئيسية بطريقة تربوية ومنهجية مبسطة وبلغة بيانية واضحة وسلسة يستفيد منها عامة القراء على مختلف مستوياتهم الثقافية. 3-حاول الكتاب عرض الفكرة الإسلامية مصحوبة بالنص الوارد بخصوصها متجنباً قدر الإمكان الطرح الفكري المجرد الذي غالباً ما يعتمد على تأملات الكاتب وفهمه الخاص منفصلاً عن المصدر الأساسي للفكرة.
